Why don’t the high schools teach financial management?

When I was in highschool, no one ever mentioned credit or personal financial management, and when I got out I completely screwed up my credit because I didn’t even know what credit was. Why do you think the high schools decide not to touch on such an important matter? There are voltures (credit card companys, used car salesmen) attacking our children and screwing up their lives. Do you think that it would be an important subjest to teach young people about before entering the adult world?

They should, but perhaps they can’t afford it.

They do most of the time. Almost all highschools have business classes you can elect to take, and they are required to teach about credit (though in a very limited way) in High School Economics. I would suggest doing some research on your states standards (can be found via Google) and it should give you some very good hints and tips. Also, self education is an imporant part of life, and hopefully, people partake in that, no one really is attacking our children, parents are part of the issues, too, and should teach these things. An essential part of everyday survival depends on your parents involvement, teachers should not be loaded with yet another task, especially when they cover it basically. (also, it is usually taught in criminal justice, as well as connections classes, I learned about it 4-5 times plus with personal guidance by my own parents).
